Rendang Padang Recipe

Rendang Padang is known as one of the most delicious food in the world.

Padang is a city in West Sumatera, Indonesia.

Rendang is also identical with Minangkabau, a West Sumatera native tribes.

The original Rendang Padang has good quality, black, and dry. Rendang can hold for months if stored properly. 

The main flavoring ingredients: 
  1. 1 1/2 kg of fresh beef 
  2. 12 cups of coconut milk (squeezed from three grated coconut, coconut old) 
  3. 2 pieces of dried kandis acid 
  4. 2 pieces, kaffir lime leaves (fresh leaves) 
  5. 1 stalk lemongrass, crushed 
  6. 1 sheet, turmeric leaves 
  7. Salt, as needed 
Spices (this material must be blended or mashed except galangal): 
  • 1 ounce of fresh red chili 
  • 15 pieces of red onion 
  • 6 cloves of garlic 
  • 5 pieces of pecan 
  • 2 cm of ginger
  • 3 cm of galangal, crushed 
How to make rendang: 
  1. Cut the beef according to your taste, can be small cubes or flat
  2. Boil coconut milk in a large frying pan along with the spices that have been mashed, and then enter the material no 3-6. 
  3. Stir constantly until the coconut milk thickened. Keep stirring, so that the coconut milk is not damaged/broken. If it is oily, put your beef slowly.
  4. Stir constantly, over medium heat, do not stop stirring. Do it well until the meat is tender. Done!

Klappertart Cake Recipe

Today, I'll try to share a recipe comes from Manado, Nort Sulawesi. This kind of cake can be made easily. You can also practice this recipe at your home. You can also modifying this recipe as you like, such as adding or reducing the coconut, or replace full cream milk with other type of milk as you like.

Before we practicing this recipe, I'll describe about the origin of the name of this cake. Klappertart comes from "kelapa (Indonesian) means coconut", because of one of the ingredient is coconut.

OK, here the recipe:


  1. 500 ml full cream milk 
  2. 75 g cornstarch 
  3. 50 g wheat 
  4. 150 grams sugar 
  5. 1 tsp vanilla liquid 
  6. 1 egg yolk 
  7. 2 pieces of scraped young coconut 
  8. 50 gr blue band 

How to make: 

  • Cook all the ingredients except the egg yolk and coconut 
  • Cook until boiling and exploding 
  • Turn off the heat, add the egg yolks, stir rapidly 
  • Cook until boil briefly, then enter scraped coconut 
  • Turn off the heat, add 50 grams of blue bands, mix well 
  • Add a topping of cheese and raisins 
  • Chill in the refrigerator
Note: You can cook this cake on cake mold that microwaveable.

Purple Potato Layer Cake


  1. 500 grams of whole eggs 
  2. 250 grams of sugar 
  3. 1 tablespoon pressed emulsifier 
  4. Vanilla extract, adequate 
  5. 2 tablespoons milk powder 
  6. 150 grams of wheat flour 
  7. 1 teaspoon baking powder 
  8. 50 grams of purple potato flour and 150 cc of water (mix well) 
  9. 50 grams of melted margarine and cooking oil 50 cc 
  10. 100 grams of white chocolate (melted, then mixed with a material number 9) 

Ingredients for topping:

  • 100 grams of cheese (grated) 
  • Butter cream ready for use, adequate (add purple food coloring adequate) 
  • Spikel or chocolate chips form of love (the other may be substituted) 

How to Make:

  • Heat the steamer, prepare baking pan size 22 cm, the base with baking paper and spread with margarine. 
  • Beat eggs, sugar, and emulsifier until thick. Add purple sweet potato mixture, little by little, the mixer again, then add the flour, milk powder, vanilla, and material number 10 
  • Then divide the dough into 3 parts
    • First dough, let no given color (if desired can be given a light purple color just to look more beautiful)
    • Second dough, add the salt water solution (1 tablespoon of water + 1/8 teaspoon salt), add a few drops of purple food coloring only, stirring until blended.
    • Third dough, put 3 drops of vinegar or lemon juice, add red color and mix until blended.
  • Pour batter into the pan first, steamed 10 minutes, then pour back the second batter, steamed again, and pour the batter last third, steamed until cooked about 20 minutes. After cooking, remove from heat and let cool, when cool decorate with butter cream colored purple and grated cheese. 

For addition, you can use natural dyes, such as purple can be replaced with a purple dragon fruit juice, red color with strawberry fruit juice.
